Sequosempervirin D is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is used to treat pain, inflammation, and fever. It is also used to treat bowel disease. Sequosempervirin D has been shown to be effective in the treatment of myocardial infarction, with a significant reduction in heart size and improved cardiac function. The biological activity of this drug may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes. Sequosempervirin D binds to the response element on DNA and alters gene transcription through the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The optimum concentration for this drug is found at 10 micromolar.
