Stigmasta-4,25-dien-3-one is a diterpenoid compound that belongs to the group of β-amyrin, which has been found to activate the transcription factor NF-κB. It has potent cytotoxicity and has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells. The extract also contains steroid glycosides and flavonoids, which have medicinal values such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. This extract also contains an ethanol extract that is used traditionally as a sedative and analgesic agent. Stigmasta-4,25-dien-3-one is found in Lamiaceae plants (mint family) and is used traditionally in the treatment of gallbladder stones, tuberculosis, or malaria.
